Dangerous Ideas(危險的想法與單腳拉屎的主意)

2008/3/11

The primary reading in Freedom of Speech on the Internet class for this week is Steven Pinker's "In Defense of Dangerous Ideas". The dangerous ideas according to Pinker is "Statements of fact or policy that are defended with evidence and argument by serious scientists and thinkser but which are felt to challenge the collective decency of an age." For example, Have religions killed a greater proportion of people than Nazism?

There is a dangerous spreading around academics in Taiwan:

Should governemnt in Taiwan (or NTHU)stop giving grants to humanities and social science since these fields do no help to promote university position in world university ranking?

(to be continued)
